Shreveport Stomp (Allan Browne, Marc Hannaford, Sam Anning)
Allan Browne, Marc Hannaford and Sam Anning have explored a century of jazz material while developing their unique interactive style. Shreveport Stomp is their second release.
With ingenious takes on compositions by Thelonius Monk, Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington, Jelly Roll Morton, Ornette Coleman and Johnny Green, Shreveport Stomp contains some of the most exciting playing of traditional jazz repertoire the Trio has achieved.
The Trio’s highly acclaimed debut, Homage, won the Australian Jazz Bell Award for Best Classic Jazz album in 2010, the proceeds of which went towards the recording of Shreveport Stomp, which was filmed and recorded live at Bennetts Lane Jazz Club in Melbourne.
The film clips feature the Trio playing a standard and classic jazz repertoire in a live setting and whilst some personal outlooks are also featured as the guys are filmed strolling through inner city Melbourne alleys and discussing music over Japanese Ramen before heading back to their gig; allowing a sneak peak into the workings of these talented individuals.
Shreveport Stomp. Out on Jazzhead.
