Monash Sessions: Enrico Rava 

In December 2013 the Head of Music, Robert Burke, the Director of the Academy of Performing Arts, Paul Grabowsky, Stephen Magnusson and Mirko Guerrini together with 35 students from the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music travelled to the Monash University Prato Centre in Italy (just outside of Florence) to record with seminal European Jazz musician ECM recording artist, trumpet man, Enrico Rava. 

Recorded over 2 days the players employed the Italian approach to music, relaxed but with an intensity of potent meaning and harmonic perfection. The captivating trumpet sound and passionate lyrical lines produced by Rava alongside the international quality of the students performance are captured to perfection on this stunning recording.

Enrico Rava has played with luminary artists such as Pat Metheny, Michel Petrucciani, John Abercrombie, Joe Henderson, Richard Galliano, Miroslav Vitouš, Andrea Centazzo, Joe Lovano, Gil Evans and Cecil Taylor.

Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music Students and staff have curated an outstanding collection of international and elite recording artists.
